- Flat DIN125 Washers are the smallest type of flat washer because their outside diameter (OD) is usually just a little more than twice their inside diameter (ID). The washer also ensures a smooth base for the nut to press against
- Understanding and measuring washer sizing: Washer sizes can be a little confusing so we will do our best to try to make it a little easier to understand. When searching for a washer, firstly, let's say you have a M6 bolt and you want a matching washer, look for washers with M6 at the beginning of the description (you can speed this up by using our "shop by" filters). If you already have a washer and you are trying to match it, measure the inside, then look for a size slightly smaller that your measurement. For example the inside measurement of the washer you measured is approx 6.50mm, you need to look for a M6 washer. If the washer measured 17.25mm internally then you need a M16 Washer. Remember washers are not precision fasteners and variations in sizing do exist and all measurements on our site should only be used as a guide
- Are Metric & Imperial Washers Interchangeable?: In most cases they are which is why we have added metric sizing to the imperial range and imperial sizing to the metric range. It is the best material to use in marine, coastal, chemical and food environments. Stainless steels are largely non-magnetic, but it is not uncommon for some stainless steel fasteners, especially stamped components like washers to show a small degree of magnetism. This is partly due to the work-hardening of the product during the manufacturing process. Marine Grade Stainless Steel A4-70 G316 can be easily identified by the following markings: A4, A4-70, A4-80, 316 or G316. Small sized washers are generally not stamped
