6.3mm Stainless A4-70 G316 Split / Cotter Pin (PinØ 5.8mm) DIN 94

Cotter Split Pins are a metal fastener with two prongs rather than one. The two prongs are typically bent during installation to hold an item in place. The pin must also be long enough to fit through the hole and have enough length left to bend and secure. Cotter pins are commonly used to hold machine parts in place by being inserted into corresponding holes of two different parts, then bending to hold them together. They are often refered to as either split pins or cotter pins
To choose the right length: To choose the right length measure the length of the hole then compare this to the measurement of the shorter prong of your cotter pin (if the two prongs are not of equal length). You will need the length of the hole to be shorter than both pin’s prongs in order for the pin to work. Pins that are far too long can usually be cut down to size, offering some flexibility in this area. The size of a cotter pin is the diameter of the 2 pins. Can Stainless corrode?: Stainless steel is corrosion-resistant but not corrosion-proof and corrosion can occur if the material is installed or handled incorrectly. The use of tools and drills made from conventional steel during the installation of stainless steel fasteners may also lead to problems. Even the hardest of tools can produce debris that leaves minute steel particles on the stainless steel fastener surfaces or in pre-drilled holes. It is these particles that often rust when exposed to moisture or oxygen and can result in a stained or tarnished finish to the stainless steel material
