- Countersunk Timber Screws can be used for general fixing of timber, has no ribs under the head, making it suitable for hinges and other metal products where you want the head of the screw to sit flush. Has a special long sharp self drilling point with a flute (Type 17) that cuts the timber fibres as it is screwed in. Timber fibres are collected in the flute and reduces the potential for splitting. Can pierce light gauge metal up to 0.6mm without predrilling
- Material / Coating: Zinc Yellow plated refers to the colour of the chromate that is applied after zinc has been applied. Yellow chromate increases the overall protection of the finish. The coating is intended to be used internally as it only offers an average level of protection against corrosion. If you want a fastener that will withstand the outdoor elements choose look for a Stainless steel or Galvanised fastener
- What does TPI stand for?: TPI stands for “threads per inch” which literally means the number of threads within each inch on a screw, a bolt, or a fastener. To determine the TPI of a screw, count the number of threads contained within an inch of length on the fastener. If the screw is less than an inch count ½” of an inch and multiply by 2
- How to measure the length of a Timber Screw: Fastener length is generally measured from the point where the surface of the material will be when the fastener is installed to the end of the fastener. Thus, fasteners with heads that sit above the surface are measured from under the head to the end of the fastener, while fasteners that sit flush with the surface are measured from the top of the head to the end of the fastener
