- Hex Flange Bolts are the highest strength hex head metric bolts we stock, they are approx. 20% stronger than a class 10.9 and 40% than class 8.8. The bolts feature a flange under the head which eliminates the need for a separate washer and are serrated to lock and clamp the connection. It is fatigue resistant and re-usable with no decrease in performance
- Applications: Equipment and machinery with constant vibration, forklifts, truck and large vehicles, mining equipment, motor bikes, conveyors and materials handling equipment, defence and military vehicles
- Material / Coating: Black or Plain finish is unfinished (bare steel) has no actual protective coating. There may be an oil residue which provides some shelf life but no real corrosion protection when in use. The term “black” is an old industry term for plain. Depending on the material grade and heat treatment process the colour can vary from a shiny oily finish to a dull black
- Material Strength: Bolts are made to class strength 12.9. They have a yield strength of 1220 and the tensile strength is 1220 Mpa compared to 8.8 yield strength of 640 and the tensile strength is 800Mpa
- Thread Pitch (Metric): Pitch means the distance between the peaks of two threads along a screw, bolt, or fastener expressed in millimetres (mm). Used when referring to Metric parts. For example, a thread pitch of 1.50mm means that the distance between one thread and the next is 1.50mm
- Fastener Length: Is generally measured from the point where the surface of the material will be when the fastener is installed to the end of the fastener. Thus, fasteners with heads that sit above the surface are measured from under the head to the end of the fastener, while fasteners that sit flush with the surface are measured from the top of the head to the end of the fastener
