- Socket Screws assortment grab kit containing a variety of popular sizes of Button socket screws, these screws have a larger bearing surface and a lower head profile than a socket head cap screw and are generally used when the material is too thin to countersink, or decorative finish is desired. Use a hex key also called an allen wrench or hex power bit to install. The tensile strength isn’t as high as a socket head cap, but as a comparison they are twice the strength of a machine screw. They are fully threaded and have uniformly threads, meaning they maintain the exact same diameter throughout the entire length of the threaded section of the fastener, unlike self tapping or chipboard screws which have tapered threads.

Thus, fasteners with heads that sit above the surface are measured from under the head to the end of the fastener, while fasteners that sit flush with the surface are measured from the top of the head to the end of the fastener
